Don Nielsen       Art for a New Millenium

Don C. Nielsen

is a self-taught artist whose work is easily indentified through his blending or design and color. He has perfected his technique so that rarely does a brush stroke appear. That is why some people Mistakenly think he uses an airbrush. After the design is penciled in on the painting surface, masking tape is applied, the panal painted and then the tape is removed which maintains a straight line thus giving the name "Hard Edge" to the type of work he does,  Since 1970, when he entered his first art show. He has won awards in every juried show entered and has had successful one-man shows.

In 1983 he suspended his painting career to enter the chamber of commerce work until his retirement in 1997. In 1998 he started working again in his favorite occupation -Art- and began creating new work which better utilized this technique of creating an optical illusion of light and visual movement. His early works (1970-1983) may be found in private collections throughout the United States. It has been very difficult to classify his work since it does not fall into any of the traditional categories, Therefore, he has named his current work "NEW MILLENIUM ART".

Don is a retired airforce Lt col and hols a B.A. from the university of Iowa and an M.B.A. from Indiana university. He currently resides in the retirement community of Littlebrook in Oregon. Here is how to contact him:
